Offshore Wind Consultants (OWC) is looking to recruit a Head of Special Services to grow a dedicated team of multi-disciplinary specialists focused on maintaining a technical lead for OWC.

The role will involve both project work and capability development.  The successful candidate will work across all disciplines within our engineering and consultancy assignments for offshore wind farm and oil and gas projects, to deliver projects, undertake new competency development activities, to coordinate and refine existing competency development and to represent OWC at relevant industry forums.

Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our offshore wind team you will be responsible for leading complex engineering projects, with a focus on geotechnical and structural engineering and analyses in the offshore wind industry.

The objective of the Special Services Division will be to lead technical development in the company however the Division would also be expected to generate income to grow the OWC business through the application and use of new technology.

The successful candidate will be required to develop and maintain OWC's technical competency and capabilities.  This will require the successful candidate to liaise across the Aqualis group of companies to develop the best possible application in offshore wind for the array of structural and geotechnical capabilities that already exist within the group, and to develop targeted new capabilities should this be required to support the OWC business. The role will involve the building of a new team which will be capable of delivering the Special Services Division key strategic objectives.

The capability areas will include some or all of:

• Assessing and interpreting geotechnical data;
• Jack up site specific assessments and leg penetrations;
• Foundations design (monopile, jacket, GBS and suction buckets);
• Structural design;
• Structural Integrity Monitoring;
• Grouting design and repair;
• Subsea cable installation and protection;
• Technological developments for WTGs;
• Good industry practice for improved safety and efficiency in offshore installation operations;
• Corrosion protection; and
• Life extensions.

The successful candidate would be expected to represent OWC on Joint Industry Projects, technical committees, to write technical papers and to develop new competencies within OWC which are of value to OWC's clients.

Qualifications
At least an MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering with a first or upper second class honours degree and a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or similar.

Experience

Over 10 years' experience in the design of offshore structures. The ideal candidate will also have had a significant number of technical papers published and presented.

Key Skills
Candidates should be able to demonstrate competency and experience in the following key skill areas.
• Excellent technical engineering knowledge, with a good understanding of both geotechnical engineering and structural engineering;
• An ability and enthusiasm for writing technical papers and speaking at conferences;
• Ability to co-ordinate, direct and lead projects and work under own initiative and be a self-starter;
• Good technical knowledge and experience of offshore foundation design including; monopiles, suction buckets, gravity bases and jackets;
• Excellent report writing skills;
• Familiar with commercial and contractual issues and able to provide guidance to our clients;
• Good sales and business development techniques which will allow the candidate to prepare proposals, make presentations to prospective clients and also be competent in marketing the capabilities of OWC;
• Capable of seeing new business opportunities and pursuing these with existing and future clients; and
• Proficient in the use of software such as Ansys, Matlab, Visual Basic, Plaxis, grlWEAP and gINT and general programming.

The following competencies would also be desirable.

• Experienced in the scoping, management, supervision and interpretation of offshore site investigations;
• Experience of jack up leg penetration analyses;
• Ability to undertake pile driveability and extraction analyses;
• Ability to undertake scour assessments; and
• Proficient in French or German language.

Location
The role will primarily be undertaken from OWC's London Office and the successful candidate will also be required to travel within Europe and occasionally further overseas.  As OWC continue to expand, there may also potentially be the opportunity to work from other offices around the world.

Offshore Wind Consultants is looking to recruit a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to work on our engineering and consultancy assignments for offshore wind farm and oil and gas projects on a global basis.

Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our offshore wind team you will be responsible for leading teams to deliver complex geotechnical engineering projects and work packages for OWC's clients.

You will undertake a variety of engineering analyses including foundation design, leg penetration/extraction analysis, driveability analyses, geotechnical interpretation, and cable route assessment.

Qualifications

At least a BEng or MSc in Civil Engineering with a first or upper second class honours degree being preferred and a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or similar also preferred.

Experience

Over 7 years' experience as a geotechnical engineer in the design and management of offshore wind farm foundations and/or cable routes. The ideal candidate will also have had some direct experience of working as a geotechnical engineer offshore on vessels or jack-ups.

Key Skills
Candidates should be able to demonstrate competency and experience in the following key skill areas.
